Angel Reese Had Something to Say About Lynx Star After Chicago Sky’s Big Win

The Chicago Sky pulled off one of their biggest wins of the season on Saturday as they took down the league-best Minnesota Lynx in a home game at Wintrust Arena. Angel Reese turned in another double-double in the victory, logging 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting, to go along with 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals in 35 minutes of action.
Reese did all that while matching up against one of the best players in the league today, Napheesa Collier, who is also considered the frontrunner for this year’s Most Valuable Player title. Collier went off against Reese and Co. with a team-high 26 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals, three blocks and one triple, but it still wasn’t enough to lead Minnesota to victory. After the game, Reese was asked to share her thoughts on the matchup against Collier, and the Sky star had nothing but high praise for the five-time All-Star. Yeah, she’s one of the best,” Reese said. “I mean, I love playing one of the best players, and you see how you match up with the best.”
Reese then opened up about her relationship with Collier off the court and how they connected in the offseason during Reese’s stint at the Unrivaled League, which Collier and fellow WNBA star Breanna Stewart founded. “She worked with me all offseason, her and Alex, her husband, worked with me all offseason, on my game,” Reese continued. “Kudos to them, because they helped me a lot. Just staying poised, staying patient, that’s why I trusted my work.” “Being able to go to Unrivaled and being able to have them in my corner, still to this day, Alex texts me all the time.”
Angel Reese credited Napheesa Collier and @unrivaledwbb for challenging her and helping her grow this offseason.
She is one of the best. I love playing one of the best players. She worked with me all offseason — her and Alex worked with me all offseason on my game. And kudos to… pic.twitter.com/HdlagLPuGw

Reese also expressed her admiration for Collier and how going up against her forces the former LSU star to take her game to another level. “So I’m just super, I’m really happy that I’m able to guard and be able to play against somebody that really challenges me,” Reese said. “And I really don’t like somebody to get the best of me. She plays well, and I can’t take a play off. And that’s just a player that I love to play all the time.” The Sky have improved to 7-13 after Saturday’s big win, as they handed the Lynx just their fourth loss of the season. These two teams go at it again on Monday in a rematch at Wintrust Arena, which will give Reese another opportunity to test her mettle against one of the best in the WNBA.
