A meme involving Patrick Mahomes and the Andy Byron Kiss incident cam has gone viral on social media, with millions of users interacting with the post.

The photo shows a humorous and theatrical moment as Mahomes, wearing a red Kansas City Chiefs headband, is hugging a woman dressed as an NFL referee from behind, emulating the infamous incident involving Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR-chief Kristin Cabot.

The moment, captured at Gillette Stadium near Boston on Wednesday, was broadcast to thousands in attendance turning what should’ve been a fleeting camera shot into a full-blown controversy.

As the crowd watched the screen for couples to be featured during the romantic segment, frontman Chris Martin remarked, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” His offhand comment quickly gained unintended weight.

The camera had landed on Byron and Cabot, with Byron wrapping his arms around Cabot’s chest while her fingers were interlocked with his. Realizing they were being projected on the jumbotron, Cabot instinctively covered her face and turned away, while Byron ducked out of sight.

That one awkward moment sparked a tidal wave of scrutiny online, as viewers quickly identified the pair. The public response was swift, with social media users uncovering personal details and past professional statements that have added fuel to the fire.

Viral exposure prompts scrutiny of workplace boundaries

The awkward display on the kiss cam may have lasted only seconds, but the repercussions could linger far longer. Both Byron and Cabot hold top positions at Astronomer, an AI and data company valued at around $1.2 billion. Cabot joined the company in November 2024 as head of human resources, and at the time, Byron publicly praised her hiring, lauding her two decades of experience and “exceptional leadership” qualities.

Cabot, in turn, had shared her enthusiasm about joining the firm on LinkedIn, writing that her conversations with Byron before joining had “energized” her about the “opportunities” at Astronomer. She added that she prides herself on earning “trust with employees of all levels, from CEOs to managers to assistants.”

But the viral concert footage has cast a different light on their relationship-especially given their personal situations. Byron is reportedly married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, while Cabot recently finalized her divorce from her husband, Kenneth Thornby. Their intimate moment at a public event has raised serious ethical questions, particularly around workplace relationships between individuals in positions of power.
