Angel Reese holds back tears after an emotional personal moment in Chicago Sky’s defeat

Chicago Sky fell to Washington Mystics 103-86 in a very special game, but one that left Angel Reese with mixed feelings.
On the one hand, the 23-year-old star and her team suffered their sixth consecutive defeat, dropping their record to 7-19 and placing them 12th in the WNBA standings. However, for the Chicago forward, it was not just another game.
Angel experienced a special moment
The two-time All-Star did not have her dream comeback in terms of the team’s result, but she did in terms of her personal achievements.
After missing two games due to a back injury, Reese shone at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C., with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds. She was also the team’s top scorer, followed by Kamilla Cardoso with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Unfortunately, Sonia Citron’s 28 points and Kiki Iriafen’s 22 points meant that Tyler Marsh’s team lost the battle.
Despite this, Angel was not discouraged, as she had a precious fan watching her for the first time since she joined the WNBA: her grandmother.
Using her official Instagram account, Reese shared a photo of herself receiving a kiss on the cheek.
“My whole entire heart,” the Sky forward began, along with a double heart emoji and a face holding back tears. “The first WNBA game my grandma has ever seen me play,” she revealed in a second text.
In the photo, the forward is still wearing her team uniform and white headband. Meanwhile, her grandmother wore a black Chicago team T-shirt over a white and light blue striped shirt, which curiously matched her blue glasses. She also completed her look with gold earrings.
This photo not only shows us a sweet and warm family moment, but also reveals that, in some way, the player’s outstanding sense of fashion may have been inherited from her grandmother.
Now, Reese and Sky must prepare to face the Golden State Valkyries (12-13) next Friday, August 1, at Wintrust Arena.
