Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green said on his podcast this week that a confrontation during Monday’s game with a fan in New Orleans started when the fan repeatedly called him WNBA star Angel Reese, eventually prompting an official to step in.

In a teaser trailer for this week’s “Why Is Draymond Green Talking About Football?” podcast, Green explained that the taunting began early and continued throughout the game.

“It started on the first play or the second play of the game,” Green said. “By that time, it’s almost the end of the second quarter. He’s been doing it constantly the entire game. A, you’re using it to try to disrespect her and disrespect me, which is whack in itself. But number two, when you said it the first couple times, it is what it is, but it’s the things around it that you’re saying when you’re saying it. It’s blah, blah, blah, Angel Reese, or it’s Angel Reese, blah, blah, blah, right? That’s when I went, ‘Yo, relax, enjoy the game.’”

Green said he had no intention of trying to have the fan kicked out, saying he has no problem going back and forth with fans on the sidelines during a game, as long as it is in a respectful manner.

“That’s one of the funnest things to do for me,” Green said. “I am actually one that tells referees all the time, ‘No, they’re good. I’m fine.’ When it starts to get disrespectful… Because I can’t just disrespect you. If I disrespect you, I lose money. So don’t be disrespectful, bro.”

According to The Associated Press, the Pelicans fan, Sam Green, said that Draymond began cursing at him and threatened to punch him if he kept calling him Reese. The reasoning behind calling Green the WNBA player was that he continuously missed shots near the basket but kept grabbing his own rebounds, helping to increase his stats.

The AP also said Green did not get suspended or receive a fine from the league, but did receive a warning.
