The fans were treated to quite a spectacle on Sunday as the Chicago Sky hosted the defending two-time champions Las Vegas Aces at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. Unfortunately for the Sky, they came out on the losing end after an incredible A’ja Wilson’s game-winner.  It was a painful way to suffer defeat for Chicago, who has now lost three games in a row. Regardless of the praiseworthy effort they turned in on Sunday, they still came home with a tough loss, 77-75.

After the game, Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon got brutally honest about her feelings on her team’s heartbreaking defeat. The former five-time All-Star spoke openly about how painful this one was for her.  “It’s just tough when you play the way our young ladies played today,” Weatherspoon told reporters during her post-game press conference. “The stick seems to be short. For me, as their coach, it hurts to see them play so hard and not come out with a victory, especially at home. The crowd was electric. It was beautiful to play this type of crowd, the atmosphere.”

“At the end of the day, when that score clock goes off and time goes down and it gets to zero and you don’t have that W, it still hurts,” Weatherspoon continued. “It still freaking hurts. Especially when they work that hard.”  The Sky will return to action on Tuesday to host the Washington Mystics. There’s no denying that Weatherspoon will expect an even better performance from her squad as they look to put an end to their current losing streak.
