Eagles’ Jalen Hurts was a ‘baby’ who ‘ticked’ off bosses with Nick Sirianni remarks, host says

94WIP radio host Joe DeCamara is still seething over Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts’ weak defense of coach Nick Sirianni last week.

When Hurts was asked about Sirianni changing his coaching style in 2024, he said simply, “That’s a great question. I don’t know that I know the answer to it. … The messages he’s delivering to the team, he’s trying to be very intentional on what he’s saying.”  “What a pathetic and disgraceful way to answer a question,” DeCamara said on the radio Monday, per Audacy. “I think (owner Jeffrey) Lurie and (GM) Howie (Roseman) are ticked, as they should be.”

In 2024, Sirianni will relinquish control of what he described was a “stale” offense for Kellen Moore, the new offensive coordinator. Sirianni also plans to oversee every part of the team and spend more time in positional meetings, meaning he won’t spend as much time with Hurts as in the past.

There have been no signs that Lurie or Roseman are upset with Hurts. After all, they both played a pivotal part in signing him to a five-year $255 million contract through 2028 in April 2023.  DeCamara believed that Hurts needed to step up to defend his coach more passionately

“Jalen just did a horrible job with his answer,” DeCamara said. “I think Lurie is probably really, really ticked. Jeffrey Lurie decided to (stand) by Nick Sirianni and chose to have him as coach of a football team with championship aspirations. For the quarterback to act that way — to me, last week, I thought Jalen acted like a baby with the way he answered that question.”

Hurts threw for 23 touchdowns and 15 interceptions with 3,858 yards. He also rushed for 15 more TDs. But the bigger issue is that the Eagles lost six of seven games, including in the wild-card game, and Hurts and Sirianni bore the brunt of criticism.
