Patrick Mahomes knows perfectly well that keeping his throne as the best quarterback in the NFL won’t be an easy task. There aremultiple great quarterbacks that are coming after his throne and one of them lost against the Kansas City Chiefs’ star at the most recent Super Bowl. We are talking about Brock Purdy, whose story is truly amazing due to how much he has already done in the span of his first two seasons as a pro. Purdy reached the Playoffs last season but suffered an injury that prevented him from training during the pre-season. That didn’t matter because as soon as he returned, Purdy led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl they ultimately lost against Kansas.

Brock Purdy issues stern warning for Patrick Mahomes

Contrary to last season, Brock Purdy is getting ready in the best possible way he can for a new season. He has been preparing physically in a way he wasn’t allowed to last year. With the Playoffs in mind, Brock Purdy clearly also stays motivated by reminding himself of the Super Bowl defeat he suffered at the start of 2024. Brock is well aware that the rivals to beat are the Kansas City Chiefs but he is also eager to beat all the other teams in the league. Next season’s quarterback competition promises to be ruthless with not only Brock Purdy at 100% health but Joe Burrow also recovered from last season’s injury. Mahomes will have to bring out his best self for this new challenge.

Via 49ersWebzone.com, Brock Purdy said this: “We got all the way to the end. We’re right there and weren’t able to finish it. So for me, I had that taste in my mouth, and then get back into the gym, start slowly, working into it. Here, in OTAs, getting with [head coach] Kyle [Shanahan] and going over all the games that we played in, every play, and going over situational football and stuff, and taking that and actually going out on the field and running things and repping things, and throwing to the receivers. Last year, I didn’t have that, so now that I’m able to attack those kinds of things, I feel like I’ve gotten better.”
