WNBA star Angel Reese gives update on dating life after split with millionaire ex
Angel Reese is one of the most recognisable stars in women’s basketball but the Chicago Sky power forward says she is categorically not looking for love.
Angel Reese has declared she’s “not looking for a man” following her split from a millionaire basketball player. The Chicago Sky star has become one of the main faces of the WNBA thanks to an extraordinary rookie season – and has now made it clear that dating is not in her plans.
Reese, 22, recently hosted basketball icon Shaquille O’Neal on her podcast ‘Unapologetically Angel’, where they candidly spoke about various topics, including relationships and dating advice. During the conversation, the Los Angeles Lakers legend quizzed Reese about her preferences in men.
The power forward, who shot to fame after clinching the 2023 NCAA championship and securing a 2024 WNBA all-star spot, responded to O’Neal by saying: “I’m not looking for a man. I’m looking just for happiness in life.” After further probing by Shaq about her ideal partner, Reese conceded that she is on the lookout for “a high calibre man,” and “a smart, nice and genuine man,” before adding that “he cannot be a house husband.”
As the grilling continued, the Maryland prodigy said: “I like danger. I want people to think my man is attractive yes. He’s got to be a strong, confident man.” The towering 6ft 3in athlete and social media sensation recently ended her relationship with college basketball ace Cam’Ron Fletcher. In an update to her millions of Instagram followers in March, Reese announced: “Yeah, I’m single. I don’t got no man. Don’t attach me to no man. That’s all I’mma say. That’s it.”
They first met around six years ago through their shared passion for basketball, which blossomed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The duo marked their first getaway together with a trip to Jamaica, where they celebrated their relationship with matching tattoos bearing each other’s names. As college basketball’s former power couple, both Reese and Fletcher have lucrative Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreements. Fletcher, with a net worth estimated between $1million and $3m (£770,000-£2.3m) as of last year, enjoys partnerships with brands like Rising Spear and Urban Outfitters.
Reese herself boasts an impressive financial standing with a net worth around $2m (£1.5m), having inked a multi-year deal with Reebok following basketball legend O’Neal’s appointment as the head of the brand’s basketball division. Despite her reluctance to date at this moment in time, Reese previously confessed that she was open to dating an NBA player in the future. She shut down claims that she was dating Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant in September after they were spotted sitting next to each other courtside at last summer’s Paris Olympics.
