Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese had two of the best rookie seasons the WNBA has ever seen.  Both consistently broke records, both on and off the court, on their way to making their first WNBA All-Star appearance.  But their fame didn’t start in the WNBA.  Clark and Reese became one of the most talked-about rivalries following the 2023 NCAAW National Championship between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the LSU Tigers. Reese got the initial win as LSU defeated Clark and Iowa 102-85.

Now, the rivalry has continued as professionals. When the Fever and Sky met in the regular season, the battles between the two stars stole headlines.  On Halloween, a couple of fans represented the rivalry by dressing up as Clark and Reese from their college days, posting a video of themselves in their outfits on TikTok.

Reese caught a glimpse of the video and reposted it on her own TikTok account.  Notably, the narrator of the clip gave a big shoutout to the women’s basketball stars by dubbing Clark and Reese as “the most iconic duo.” The two fans also used a photo of themselves emulating the famous ring taunt from Reese toward Clark after winning the 2023 title. The two fans also mentioned they tried to create fake beef with each other to enhance the resemblance of the rivalry.

Clark finished her first season with the Fever averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and a league-leading 8.7 assists per game, on her way to breaking the single-season assists record. She even led Indiana to its first playoff appearance in eight years.  Reese, on the other hand, tallied 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, which also led the WNBA. She initially broke the single-season rebounding record, but due to a season-ending wrist injury that kept her out of the Sky’s final six games, Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson was able to take that record away.
