Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have been at the top of the NFL world over the past several years, heading to their fifth Super Bowl in the last six years.  The Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills 31-28 in the AFC Championship Game and will now attempt to secure their third straight Super Bowl title.

Kansas City entered the postseason looking to become the first team in the modern era to ahieve a Super Bowl three-peat.  Ahead of their Super Bowl LIX matchup, the Chiefs announced historic news regarding Mahomes.  The Chiefs quarterback holds the franchise record for the most rushing touchdowns in playoff history (7).

“Congratulations, QB1,” the Chiefs captioned the post.

Mahomes passed former Chiefs running back Damien Williams (6), who played for Kansas City from 2018 to 2020 and helped the franchise win Super Bowl LIV.  In the latest Chiefs victory over the Bills, Mahomes posted two touchdowns and 43 yards on the ground. He also passed for one touchdown and 245 yards, completing 18-of-26 pass attempts.

Mahomes has been with the Chiefs since 2017, serving as the team’s starter since 2018. Kansas City has become quite a dynasty with Mahomes as the starter and the Chiefs look to add to their resume in Super Bowl LIX.  Kansas City will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
