Patrick Mahomes managed to rest this Wednesday as the Chiefs did not practice ahead of the Super Bowl LIX game against the Philadelphia Eagles.  The quarterback is nursing a persistent ankle issue and remains on the injury list, with the Chiefs releasing their first injury list after the 29-32 win over the Bills in the NFC Championship Game.

It was back in December when Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain, with the incident coming in a game against the Cleveland Browns. The Chiefs have listed Mahomes on the report every week since Week 16.

Mahomes not an injury worry for Chiefs

Despite Mahomes appearing on the injury list, it is not expected that his fitness could cause him to miss out on the upcoming Super Bowl, where he will be looking to achieve an historic three-peat with his side.  So far this postseason, after two games, Mahomes is 34-of-51 for 422 yards and two touchdowns while having run for 57 yards and two touchdowns.

As for the Eagles, they too released their first injury report since the NFC Championship Game win over the Commanders.

The 59th Super Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 6:30 PM ET at the legendary Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
