Cause of Donald Trump’s huge hand bruise revealed as pictures spark speculation about US President’s health

A large bruise on Donald Trump’s hand has sparked feverish speculation on social media about the US President’s health. The 78-year-old’s right hand appeared bruised as he met with French president Emmanuel Macron on Monday to discuss the future of Ukraine. It has prompted speculation, with some users noting previous redness or bruising on Trump’s right hand at events in August and November last year.
But White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the bruising is a result of hand shaking. “President Trump is a man of the people and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other president in history,” she said on Tuesday night. “His commitment is unwavering and he proves that every single day.”
“President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day,” she added. People have speculated about potential causes for the bruising on social media. “It appears to be an IV bruise and it happens a lot to Trump,” one said. “There are a lot of pics with bandages and bruises. You would think our press would be inquiring about his health.”
Another speculated he could be on blood thinning medication, while a third person dismissed the speculation, writing: “The people who are now suddenly worried about Trump’s hand bruise never even batted an eye when Biden repeatedly stared off into space, slurred his speech, and shuffled around vacantly on stage.”
In December, Trump said he would release his full medical report to voters, but he has not yet done so. The health of presidents has become increasingly a political issue, especially since the Covid pandemic when Trump reportedly tested positive for the virus in September 2020, just three days before attending a presidential debate against Joe Biden.
