Patrick Mahomes’ concern deepens as Andy Reid delivers a pivotal injury update on Isiah Pacheco

Patrick Mahomes is a talent no other team can match, but despite being the NFL’s best quarterback, he also needs a strong running game to establish dominance game after game in the league-a department that struggled last season. It’s no secret that the Chiefs were inconsistent when it came to rushing. In fact, they opted for a system where carries were distributed among multiple running backs. But everything could change heading into the next season.
The Kansas City Chiefs are eager to welcome back Isiah Pacheco
Pacheco had become the Chiefs’ most prominent running back in recent years until an injury sidelined him, leaving a significant void. Last season, he played only seven games, leaving the team adrift.

The Chiefs’ record was actually strong (15-2), but establishing the run game would have been a huge help, especially considering how the season ended with that painful Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. During the latest NFL owners’ meeting, Andy Reid provided an update on the former Rutgers star. “I think he’ll be better this year. He was forcing that thing coming back. Most guys probably haven’t come back, but if you know him for a minute, you know he wasn’t going to be held back. I think you’ll get an even better player this year,” Reid said.
Pacheco is coming off the worst of his three NFL seasons, but the Kansas City Chiefs are clear about their goal: keep him healthy to bolster an offense that has undergone many changes over the years. If the running game clicks, watch out for Andy Reid’s team. It’s also worth noting that the team was very active in free agency, and it remains to be seen what decisions they’ll make during the upcoming NFL Draft, where Andy Reid’s staff has typically been spot-on.
