Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Makes Shohei Ohtani Announcement After Having Child

Shohei Ohtani welcomed a baby girl into his life over the weekend, an excellent moment for him and his wife. Making an announcement on Instagram, Ohtani said he’s grateful for his loving wife and excited to have his baby girl in his life. “I am so grateful to my loving wife who gave birth to our healthy beautiful daughter,” Ohtani wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday. “To my daughter, thank you for making us very nervous yet super anxious parents.”
For Dave Roberts, this was an opportunity to be funny. Roberts, who always cracks jokes to Los Angeles Dodgers players and keeps things fun for the organization, noted that Ohtani will now have dad strength.
“‘Dad strength’ is real,” Roberts said before the game. “It’s amazing how hard Shohei hits the ball now. So now that he is a father, we might see some 120 [mph] exit velos off the bat. Something unprecedented.” If Ohtani does have dad strength, it’s scary to think about what he could do against the rest of Major League Baseball. He’s already one of the top two players in the league, at worst.
Outside of that, Roberts was very impressed with what Ohtani did on and off the field, citing how hard he works and his commitment to his day-to-day life. “I think in paternity, you get three days,” manager Dave Roberts said. “But for him to just make sure the baby was healthy and to get back here, and to be a part of this, certainly shows his ability to balance life and work. Good to have him back, and most importantly, I’m happy him and Mamiko have a healthy baby girl.”
