Angel Reese Sends Exciting Message Before WNBA Season

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese took the league by storm during her inaugural WNBA season. The LSU product made an instant impact, averaging 13.6 points and a league-leading 13.1 rebounds per contest for a Sky team that narrowly missed the playoffs.

She put together one of the most impressive rookie campaigns in the history of the WNBA, breaking records for number of double-doubles as well as total rebounds. Reese was both an All-Star and a member of the All-Rookie team last year, and had she not missed the final six games of the season with a wrist injury, she could have been an All-WNBA selection as well.

Reese spent her offseason playing in the Unrivaled League, where she won the Defensive Player of the Year Award and was named Second-Team All-League. Her Rose BC team also won the championship, further cementing Reese as a pivotal piece in the women’s basketball landscape.

Now, she’ll shift gears back to the Chicago Sky, who just drafted four new players in last week’s WNBA Draft. On Tuesday, Reese sent out an exciting message about the Sky and her teammates before the WNBA season begins.

“T-minus 5 days until training camp,” wrote Reese. “Can’t wait to get back to Chicagooooo with the girliessss.”

Chicago still has center Kamilla Cardoso on the roster, but they also made solid veteran free agency moves by signing guards Ariel Atkins and Courtney Vandersloot. TCU guard Hailey Van Lith could also be a crucial piece of the puzzle for the Sky this year, as her storied relationship with Reese dates back to their college days at LSU.

It will be interesting to see how all the pieces fit together for the Sky as they try to make a playoff push with a new coaching staff and several new players. Their first regular-season contest will take place on May 17, when they travel to Indiana to take on Caitlin Clark and the Fever.
