After Snubbing Dad on Father’s Day, Patrick Mahomes Finally Reacts to Pat Mahomes Sr’s Blast From the Past
Patrick Mahomes doesn’t speak until the time is right! The NFL star is currently having a blast on a month-long holiday in Portugal with wife Brittany and his children. As the elite QB is recharging his body ahead of a crucial regular season in September, his father Pat Mahomes Sr. dominated the headlines. In June, the former MLB star appeared before a Texas court after his third DUI arrest. While the NFL star pleaded the fifth after the hearing, Mahomes finally takes a stance!
On July 1, 2024, Patrick Mahomes retweeted a snap where Mahomes Sr. was holding him as a toddler. The iconic photo is from the baseball pitcher’s playing days and it is a favorite among the Mahomes faithful. Thanks to the 53-year-old, Mahomes Jr. developed a passion for sports and ultimately became one of the greatest professional athletes!

Interestingly, Mahomes’ social media activity comes weeks after Mahomes Sr wished the former on Father’s Day (June 16). On that occasion, the Kansas City Chiefs‘ QB did not respond to his father’s post publicly. Not only that, Mahomes Jr. did not wish his father on any public platform.
Despite his silence on Mahomes Sr’s wish, the NFL star showed love to Father’s Day wishes from his wife. It churned a lot of speculation about whether all was cool between the father-son duo. However, the recent activity on the Chiefs star’s X (formerly Twitter) account may shut down a lot of chatter. But as the hardcore Mahomies know already, their idol isn’t a fan of airing his dirty laundry.
Patrick Mahomes is keen on keeping his family problems private
Right before the Super Bowl LVIII game against the 49ers, Patrick Mahomes was asked about his father’s third DUI arrest. The 28-year-old shut down the query right away and called it a ‘family matter.’ The Texas native took a similar approach in 2023 as well when he brushed aside questions about brother Jackson Mahomes’ battery assault arrest in 2023.
However, when it comes to praising his family, Mahomes does not hold back. After his legendary 2019 ‘no-look’ pass to Demarcus Robinson, the master QB credited his father for putting him through rigid training sessions during his amateur baseball days. Mahomes Jr. claimed, “My dad has had me long tossing since, well, forever. I think that helped build arm strength, helped build accuracy and touch… That’s something that I’ve always done. I brought it immediately into football.”
Patrick Mahomes Jr. retweeting a photo is also quite interesting in terms of timing. In the June hearing, Mahomes Sr. was offered a plea deal after an independent blood examination showed that his BAC levels (0.23) were much higher than the allowed (0.8) limit. With a potential 10-year probation hanging over his head, Mahomes Sr. will head back to court on July 22 for the next hearing. Hence, fans may interpret the NFL star’s online actions as a subtle way of supporting his father.
