Angel Reese has broken a heralded WNBA record, just 17 games into her pro career. In a loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, Reese secured her 10th consecutive points-rebounds double-double — but the Chicago Sky rookie is still not doing enough to satisfy some fans.

Reese has already established herself as a defensive force with a proclivity for snagging rebounds, but one of the knocks on her game continues to center on her offense, her efficiency around the basket. A viral post on X/Twitter reflects how fans perceive the former LSU star’s “shortcomings” at this early stage of her career.

Reese’s game of “hot potato”

During the fourth quarter of the Sky’s 70-62 loss to the Lynx, Reese had a sequence of three offensive rebounds in the final minute of play — off of three missed shot attempts. She finally put in a layup at the fourth time of asking, but it was part of a 4-of-16 shooting performance — and fans wasted little time sounding off on social media.

For the season, Reese is shooting under 40 percent from the field, but she’s still averaging 13 points and 11 rebounds per game. Reese has also quickly improved from the free throw line, where she now boasts 75 percent accuracy. But focus remains on how Reese is getting some of her rebounds: from her own misses.

Even still, Reese is emerging as a highly-influential player and personality less than halfway through her first season in Chicago. She has plenty of fans already and remains a key piece in the Sky’s ongoing rebuild. She’s also not the kind of person to let a little criticism bother her.
