The Chicago Sky are currently hosting the Atlanta Dream as they look to take a 2-1 season series lead. During the game, Sky rookie Angel Reese went viral for a massive block she made against Dream forward Cheyenne Parker-Tyus.  Reese got boxed out of the paint after Parker-Tyus secured a position on the block. Despite Parker-Tyus being able to back down the 6-foot-3 forward, Reese went over the top for a big-time block that ended in a fastbreak opportunity for the Sky.

After the block, the former LSU standout stared down Parker-Tyus before running back to the offensive end.  Reese has arguably been Chicago’s best all-around player this season. She’s averaged 14.1 points, which ranks her second in points per game on the Sky while leading the team with 11.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals.  Reese has made a career off her tenacity, especially inside the painted area. Her 11.9 rebounds puts her at No. 1 in the league in terms of average boards.

The first-year star continues to improve game by game, having notched two or more blocks in three of the last four games. As the game slows down for her halfway through her rookie season, she’s starting to find simpler reads on the defensively.  She’s currently battling with Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark for the league’s Rookie of the Year award. Clark leads all rookies with 16.1 points and 7.4 assists, but Reese’s versatility may help her hoist up the trophy.
