On Tuesday, July 8, the Chicago Sky fell to the Washington Mystics 81-79. Despite Angel Reese’s strong individual performance-posting 22 points, 15 rebounds, and 4 assists, she was visibly frustrated by the team’s inability to secure the win. In the final minute of the fourth quarter, Reese stormed off the court in anger, heading straight to the bench.

As she approached, she aggressively and rudely snatched a clipboard from an assistant coach’s hands-later identified as Ann Crosby, the Chicago Sky’s vice president of basketball operations. The scene unfolded in full view of spectators, and reactions were swift. Reese’s behavior sparked immediate backlash, with many condemning the disrespect shown to a member of her coaching staff.  Later, with a clearer head, Reese made a promise to her coaching staff that such an incident would never happen again. She acknowledged that this is not the image she wants to project-neither for herself nor for the team.

The fury took hold of Angel Reese

The former LSU Tigers star was infuriated after not getting a foul call on a previous play. That frustration boiled over as she headed to the bench and yanked the clipboard from Crosby’s hands, a moment that was quickly captured on video and went viral.  Fans and viewers harshly criticized Reese’s outburst, stating it was a moment of poor judgment and disrespect. Many called out the inappropriateness of her reaction and insisted that regardless of emotions, such behavior toward a coach is unacceptable.

The promise she made to her staff

Following the events of July 8, Reese, now a two-time WNBA All-Star-vowed it would not happen again. She admitted she let the emotions of the moment get the best of her, especially after the missed foul call, and pointed to the officiating as the trigger for her heated reaction.

“Those refs were pissing me off. Shoutout to Ann because she knew it was the heat of the moment and she didn’t let me apologize because she knew! Not happening again tho”.
She promised.

Angel Reese’s season so far

Throughout the current season, Angel Reese has delivered a standout performance, emerging as a cornerstone of the Sky’s most important victories. Though losses are part of the journey, she has consistently posted impressive numbers that reflect her talent and competitive level.  Reese is averaging 12 points and 12 rebounds per game and is set to appear in her second consecutive All-Star Game, scheduled for July 19.
