Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark isn’t the only rookie bringing in tons of noise to the WNBA.   Angel Reese, the superstar forward out of LSU, was drafted with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Chicago Sky. Basketball-wise, many people have Reese as the top rookie in the class, with multiple rookie rankings listing Reese first over Clark and other players like Cameron Brink.

Reese is also captivating and inspiring children around the country. On Tuesday, a video went viral of a young Sky fan receiving a high-five from Reese and saying, “I’ll never wash this ever again,” referring to their sweater.   The video was posted on social media, and it garnered millions of views.

On Wednesday, in an interview with CBS Sports, Reese discussed the above fan interaction and gave an emotional response to it.  “There’s so many little eyes watching and I remember being that young little girl. I have a picture with Seimone Augustus, and I know one day I’m going to be the person to have a little girl taking a picture with me. You never know how you can make somebody’s day,” Reese said.

Augustus and Reese both played college ball for the LSU Tigers. Augustus was recently hired by LSU to be an assistant coach for their women’s basketball team.  Reese continued, “I’ve just seen a video yesterday. It went viral. Being able to see that, my impact. That’s just what’s important to me… Leaving my impact on this game and other little girls and little boys’ lives is always something important to me.”

Reese and the Sky will suit up on Wednesday night as they host the first-place Connecticut Sun.
