Bills GM Chooses Words Carefully When Speaking About Chiefs, Refs

Bills GM

It’s been four days since a controversial call went against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game.  With the Bills up 22-21 on the Kansas City Chiefs, they went for it on fourth & inches but came up just short. Bills quarterback Josh Allen wasn’t able to get to the first down line, which gave the ball back to the Chiefs.

It’s a call that Bills general manager Brandon Beane still thinks should’ve gone the Bills’ way but he chose his words wisely when speaking to the media.  “It’s frustrating. There’s only so much I can say,” Beane told the media, (first transcribed by Sports Illustrated). “We work with the league to try to get clarity. I’ll give them credit. They’ve taken our calls. They’ve sent video and things like that. If you’re talking about like the fourth-down play, I feel like he got that. I still feel like he got that.”

Had the Bills gotten the first down, they would’ve had a chance to extend their lead over the Chiefs. Instead, the Chiefs got the ball back and later scored a touchdown and converted on a two-point conversion to take a 29-22 lead.  The Bills then tied the game at 29 before a Harrison Butker field goal ended up being the difference. The Chiefs won the AFC title 32-29 and will play in their fifth Super Bowl in the last six seasons.

The Chiefs are also trying to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. They’ll play the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on February 9 in New Orleans.  It’s the second time in three seasons that these two teams have played each other for the NFL’s biggest trophy.  Meanwhile, the Bills will try to make the necessary moves over the offseason that can propel them over the Chiefs when it matters most.
