Jennifer Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, ending their two-year marriage. The paperwork was submitted on Tuesday in Los Angeles, marking a significant moment as it coincided with the second anniversary of their elaborate Georgia wedding, which followed their Las Vegas elopement in July 2022.

In her filing, Lopez, who represented herself, listed April 26, 2024, as the official separation date. Interestingly, the documents did not mention a prenuptial agreement, with sources close to the couple indicating that none was in place. Lopez also requested that the court waive spousal support for both parties, signaling a potentially amicable financial split.

Rumors of trouble in the relationship had been swirling since May 2024, when Affleck was spotted without his wedding ring. Reports followed that the Oscar-winning actor had moved out of their shared Beverly Hills home, choosing instead to stay in a property in Brentwood. This distance, both physical and emotional, added fuel to the speculation that their marriage was on the rocks.

Fans grew increasingly concerned when the couple, once regularly seen together, had not been photographed side by side for over a month. During this period, Lopez was seen house-hunting in Los Angeles with her producing partner, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, further suggesting that the relationship was nearing its end.

The couple had a controversial summer

In June, Lopez embarked on a solo trip to Italy, enjoying a luxury yacht vacation and attending the Dior fashion show in Paris, while Affleck remained in Los Angeles. During this time, reports emerged that Affleck had moved his belongings out of their Beverly Hills home, indicating that the couple was already living separate lives.

The divorce speculation hit a peak in July when the couple listed their 38,000-square-foot Beverly Hills mansion for sale, asking for $68 million, nearly $8 million more than what they paid for it in 2023. The sale of their home seemed to confirm that their relationship was officially over.

As they move on from “Bennifer 2.0,” both Lopez and Affleck bring with them a history of high-profile relationships. Lopez was previously married to Marc Anthony and was engaged to Alex Rodriguez before their 2021 split. Affleck, who shares three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, was linked to several high-profile relationships before rekindling his romance with Lopez.  The end of this high-profile relationship closes a chapter in the lives of two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, leaving fans to speculate on what the future holds for both Lopez and Affleck.
