Brittany Mahomes has opened up about the early days of dating now-NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes while they were high school classmates.  Speaking on the Whoop Podcast, Brittany spoke about how the early days of their relationship ended up forming into their marriage.

She explained that Patrick was the one that made the first move – and how things may have originated as a joke.  ‘We were friends for a really long time. He was trying to date me for a while and I just wasn’t into it, I was staying in my lane, doing my own thing.  ‘One day at lunch, because we sat at the same lunch table every day, [he] was trying to be corny I guess you could say – [he] wrote me a Valentine’s letter and brought me a rose and was so cute.

‘I thought it was the cutest thing in the world and he was just doing it to, I don’t know, be sarcastic?  ‘So I really liked that he had attempted to do something super sweet and I think from there we just kinda started talking and then started dating.’

When asked about how legitimately they took their relationship in those early days, Brittany admits that they didn’t take things too seriously at the start.  ‘I don’t think it was serious just because we were like 16 so we weren’t really thinking about the future and what it would be like down the line, ’cause he was only a sophomore and I was a junior and we were still in high school.

‘I don’t think when we started dating [we] thought it would turn into this, but I’m really glad that it did and we’re really enjoying life together.’  Mahomes has liked multiple posts on social media over the last week supporting Donald Trump in the upcoming election – a position seemingly at odds with her new best friend Taylor Swift, who is dating Patrick’s Kansas City Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce.

In that same WHOOP podcast interview, Brittany credited Patrick with helping her learn to block out any criticism she receives online as her fame continues to grow.  ‘He is very good at blocking people out so having him beside has helped,’ she said.

‘The main thing he always told me is to stop caring what people think – especially the people that don’t even know you.  ‘I think social media used to get to me a lot. Now, it’s just like, honestly, I don’t give a f*** what people have to say about me anymore. And I think he has helped me get to that point.  ‘I am strong in who I am. I am confident in who I am. I confident in mine and his relationship and I am confident in our lives. So why does what other people say have to matter at all?’
