Calls Mount Against FOX’s Disrespect of Jalen Hurts as ‘Generational’ Patrick Mahomes Steers Clear of Other NFL QBs

Jalen Hurts helped the Philadelphia Eagles convincingly win their second Super Bowl. That’s the expectation from Hurts and his entire roster. They pursued excellence and success with a touch of ruthlessness to add. Even so, that wasn’t enough as per FOX’s NFL reporter. Hurts lifting the Lombardi Trophy didn’t give him the rank he perhaps deserves. And let us tell you, this definitely has brought a sense of discomfort among the Philly fans.
This week, NFL on FOX released a list of QB Tiers on Instagram. This list featured nine players, under multiple categories – Generational Quarterback, Transcendent Quarterback, Polarizing Star QB, and Best Bargains In The League. NFL reporter Henry McKenna selected his choice of QBs for their respective categories based on their talent and a track record of success. In addition, based on their contracts, too. So, he named Patrick Mahomes the “Generational QB” to start with the proceedings.
It’s understandable if you hate Mahomes and think the QB is a villain. But you can’t deny that this man has been to the Super Bowl in five of the past six seasons. Now, that’s Brady-like. Hence, keeping these points and Mahomes’s potential status as the next GOAT of the NFL, McKenna steered him clear of other quarterbacks in the row. Now some would probably agree to this, but Jalen Hurts’s rank? It might not be justifiable for many.
While sharing the post, FOX wrote, “What does your team’s future look like at QB? @henrycmckenna48 categorized all 32 teams into nine tiers,” in the caption. Interesting question. But the answer to this is even more questionable. McKenna put Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow on the Transcendent Quarterback list. He thinks they are the players who can be game-changers at the crucial time, as they have proved multiple times before. However, what came as surprising was keeping Jalen Hurts below them.
Yes! Winning a Super Bowl is not enough for Hurts to get into the 2nd tier. It obviously raged multiple fans. The reporter kept the Eagles’s QB in the 3rd category – Polarizing Star QB, eventually arguably questioning the team’s future. And guess what? He wasn’t alone there. He was paired with Justin Herbert. No doubt, Herbert has also shown his brilliance in the games. However, he hasn’t won a Super Bowl yet while Jalen Hurts is the current reigning champion. His downfall in the rankings did hurt many, as calls mounted against the broadcasting channel on social media.
Disrespect for Jalen Hurts triggered the Philly nation!
Keeping Jalen Hurts in the third category of polarizing star and with Justin Herbert! Why? Well, as per NFL reporter Henry McKenna, although Hurts is a winner, he still has some missing pieces in him. Like Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen, Hurts refers to, as a game manager. But does that really define him? Despite being a great player and a winner, Hurts has never thrown for 3,900 yards in a season like these quarterbacks. Hence, he ranks at no. 3 tier. However, fans remain unsatisfied with the answer.
For instance, some slammed FOX for disrespecting the Eagles’s QB. They said, “Y’all keep disrespecting Hurts!! SMH,” “Still disrespecting hurts I see,” or even “Jalen Hurts could win the next 5 super bowls and still be disrespected.” These fans were clear that even if Jalen Hurts proved his worth again and again, many would disrespect him.

In addition, the others were surprised to see Herbert close to Jalen Hurts. And then what? They lined up the records and stats of these two players, proving that the comparison shows Hurts is much better than Herbert. Someone quipped, “What’s polarizing about 2 Super Bowl appearances, 1 Super Bowl ring and 1 Super Bowl MVP award? Jalen cleared that tier and left Herbert in the dust.”
Others commented, “Hurts clears Herbert are we serious” or “Can yall stop putting Herbert next to Jalen. One’s been to two superbowls and won one and the other has never been (crying emoji).” If you look at Hurts’ Super Bowl performance, the player had 221 passing yards and a staggering 77.3% completion percentage. Hence, it’s strange the Super Bowl victory doesn’t take him to the 2nd tier.
Indeed, Herbert hasn’t been to the Super Bowl in his five years of NFL career. As per McKenna, he is capable of making some big-time plays. For example, he posted a 96.0 grade on play-action passes this time. And it’s the highest ever by a quarterback in the NFL. Yet, Herbert still has a lot more to prove. But for Jalen Hurts, perhaps another great performance will bring him to Generational or Transcendent tiers. If he goes on like this, don’t expect to reach Patrick Mahomes’ level!
