Chennedy Carter Shuts Down Angel Reese Disrespect With Strong Message
Chennedy Carter led the Chicago Sky to a 93-85 victory over the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday. While the talented guard had a phenomenal game with 34 points and four rebounds, she was asked about the struggles surrounding Angel Reese in the matchup during the postgame interview.
Reese picked up her 17th double-double of the season, posting 13 points and 10 rebounds. Reporters were questioning the rookie’s first-half stats since she shot 1-5 from the field, heading into the locker room with two points and six rebounds. While Reese may have started the game on a rough patch, Carter explained her trust in the young star.
“Let me tell y’all something. Angel is somebody that works hard no matter what it’s looking like. I tell her as one of her teammates and one of the closest people to her on this team. No matter what, I got your back. Miss or make, you’re a special player, you’re a talented player, and people don’t see basketball the way I see it. So keep going, and I’ll have your back,” Carter said.
Reese ended the night shooting 40% from the field. The first half featured a challenge for the 6-foot-3 forward, but she was able to find a rhythm and finished the game with a positive 26 plus/minus.
“Plus 26, that is an amazing game for her… Coming out and putting her foot down tonight, it meant a lot to me and our teammates to watch her do this,” Carter continued.
The rookie has proven to be an up-and-coming star in the WNBA, averaging 13.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game in the first 23 games of the 2024 season. There’s clearly a tight bond between Carter and Reese, with the rookie receiving high praise for her efficiency in Chicago’s win over Las Vegas.
