Chicago Sky Star Angel Reese Announces Major Personal News

On Monday night, nearly one month away from the new season, Angel Reese watched on as the Chicago Sky added numerous players in the 2025 WNBA Draft, including two in the first round.
With the No. 10 pick, the Sky selected 6-foot-4 forward Ajsa Sivka out of Slovenia. And with the No. 11 pick, Chicago took Reese’s former teammate with the LSU Tigers, guard Hailey Van Lith.
During the offseason, Reese has kept busy. The former NCAA national champion releases a weekly episode of her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel.” She also played in the inaugural Unrivaled League, seeing her Rose Basketball Club walk away with a title.
Amid all the offseason activities, Reese has built a solid platform for herself, and on Monday, one day after the draft, she shared some exciting news.
In January, Reese revealed that she helped her mom, Angel Webb Reese, pay off her mortgage during an episode of her podcast. But now, she has done more than that, announcing that not only has she retired her mother, but she has become a homeowner.
“✅Retired my momma. ✅Became a homeowner. All at 22. So blessed🥺🙏🏽,” Reese wrote on X.

Webb Reese raised Angel and her brother, Julian, as a single mother after splitting from her husband, Michael, when the Sky star was young. In an interview with ESPN in 2023, Angel credited her mom for instilling confidence in her and Julian.
“Looking at her and seeing how she never backed down to anything,” Reese said. “She always stood her ground for everything, she worked super hard for me and my brother to get in this position. Being able to just look at her and say, ‘Mom, you showed me. You paved the way for me.’ ”
Reese and the Sky will make their regular season debut on May 17, facing the Indiana Fever in Indianapolis. But now, Reese will be playing as a homeowner.
