Chiefs’ Andy Reid sends big warning to Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce ahead of another Super Bowl quest
The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for yet another run at a Super Bowl. After making it to the last game of the season in four of the past five years and winning the last two consecutively, it’s fair to wonder how motivated the team will be to embark on another long journey.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has already gotten fans excited with a short but sweet message just days before training camp, while Travis Kelce will soon put an end to his European escapade with Taylor Swift. While the players get mentally ready for what’s to come, their fearless leader is already setting the tone off the field.
Andy Reid holding all Chiefs players accountable before training camp
Head coach Andy Reid recently talked about what he needs to see from the team heading into training camp during an interview on The Athletic’s Scoop City podcast.
“Training camp is kind of that proving ground. If you’re not ready to go, it’s going to be obvious quickly. Just from whether it’s a conditioning test or the long drive drills that we do. Those things that are, you’re going to find out who’s in and who’s not in and who’s put their time”.
Reid was prompted on the likes of Mahomes and Kelce spending so much of their offseason time traveling around the world and putting their fame to use, to which he responded: “I’m okay with it, long as they’re ready to go”. Reid doesn’t care who you are, he treats everyone on the team the same and holds them all accountable. There’s a reason he has accomplished so much with the franchise to this point.
