Chiefs Ask Travis Kelce For Help After Patrick Mahomes’ Embarrassing Blunder – see video
Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are heading to their fifth Super Bowl together after the Kansas City Chiefs took down Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship Game. Mahomes was arguably the best player on the field at Arrowhead Stadium. The former Texas Tech quarterback completed 18-of-26 passes for 245 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions while adding 43 yards and another two scores on the ground.
However, it wasn’t all perfect for Mahomes, especially in the celebration department. With just over 10 minutes remaining in the game, Mahomes scrambled 10 yards for his second touchdown of the game, giving the Chiefs a 29-22 lead. In celebration, he attempted to spike the ball, but it slipped out of his hands mid-throw.
After the game, Mahomes responded to the celebration blunder with a message on X, apologizing to fans for his failed spike. “I also apologize,” Mahomes wrote on X. “That is why i dont try to spike the ball.” The Chiefs followed up with a post of their own using a video of the failed spike with Mahomes’ apology photoshopped in. The Chiefs made sure to tag Kelce, asking him to give his quarterback some spiking lessons.
“Help @tkelce, the man needs spiking lessons,” the Chiefs wrote on X.

Kelce has been known to utilize the spike after scoring touchdowns throughout his NFL career. However, he did not popularize it. That honor likely goes to former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, whose famous celebration became known as the “Gronk Spike.”
Coming off one of his best games of the season, Kelce struggled to get things going against the Bills. He recorded just two catches for 19 yards. Still, Kansas City is heading back to the big game, eyeing the first-ever NFL three-peat. Super Bowl LIX will begin on Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
