Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that wide receiver Rashee Rice will miss the upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints after suffering a knee injury during the Chiefs’ 17-10 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.  The injury occurred after a collision with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, leaving the full extent of the damage uncertain, though early reports suggest it could be serious.

The injury took place in the first quarter, when Mahomes threw an interception to the Chargers’ Kristian Fulton.  As Fulton returned the interception, Rice attempted to strip the ball but inadvertently collided with Mahomes. Rice was carted off the field, raising concerns about the severity of the injury.

Potentially Serious Injury for Rashee Rice

Although the team has yet to confirm the full diagnosis, reports indicate that Rice may have suffered a season-ending torn ACL.  Head coach Andy Reid shared, “I don’t have a definite [diagnosis] right now,” but did confirm that Rice will not play in next week’s game.

The potential loss of Rashee Rice would be a major setback for the Chiefs’ offense, as the wide receiver has been a significant contributor this season.  While the team awaits further updates on Rice’s condition, they will need to make adjustments in preparation for their upcoming matchup against the Saints.

As the Chiefs gear up for the rest of the season, the focus will be on how the offense adapts without Rice, especially if his injury proves to be as severe as feared.
