Deion Sanders’ health problems force him to make a will: “It’s not easy to think that you might not be here”

Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders has long been known for his charisma, resilience, and larger-than-life presence.
But recently, the man known as “Coach Prime” gave fans an unfiltered look into the emotional toll his health battles have taken, revealing that he’s been forced to confront his mortality and make a will.
In a recent video shared on Well Off Media, a YouTube channel run by his son, Deion Sanders Jr., the 57-year-old football icon appears visibly emotional during what appears to be a doctor’s visit filmed in early May.
At the 3:20 mark of the video, Sanders speaks candidly about how difficult it was to prepare a will amid his ongoing health issues.
“I don’t know if I’m mentally ready, emotionally,” Sanders said. “Last night was tough. Yesterday was tough because I had to make a will. It’s not easy at all to think that you might not be here, but you want to make sure everybody’s straight.”
Sanders’ vulnerability struck a chord with viewers, highlighting not just the seriousness of his health problems but also the emotional impact it has had on his family. His son, who was documenting the process at his father’s request, responded in the video: “Bro, I just want to be there as your son… Now as time went on, and as the battle was fought, and the battle was won, I see why.”
Sanders’ ongoing health challenges
This isn’t the first time Sanders has opened up about serious medical issues. In recent years, he has endured numerous complications, including the amputation of two toes on his left foot due to blood clots, a condition that nearly escalated into something even more life-threatening.
At one point, Sanders faced fears of having his entire foot amputated and required multiple surgeries to restore circulation and manage clotting.
Despite these challenges, he has remained active and passionate in his role as Colorado’s head coach, inspiring his team with his dedication and transparency. However, this recent revelation sheds new light on just how close he may have come to a critical medical turning point.
Wishing you well, Coach Prime
