On June 18, 2024, a story was published on SpaceXMania, a website that describes itself as satirical in nature, claiming that Reese was expelled from Team USA for the Summer Olympics. Additionally, the same post was later shared by the Facebook account, The Patriots, which describes their work as a Satire/Parody.

However, the entire claim was false and was labeled Satire. This means it was just made up to draw the attention of the 22-year-old athlete’s fans. Meanwhile, in reality, the roster was announced earlier this month and Reese was never a part of it.  Caitlin Clark was also not selected for the 12-player squad, although her selection was a hot topic and her fans were quite disappointed to learn the news.
