“Disappointed, Frustrated”: Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown Breaks Silence After Chiefs WR Was Dealt Injury Blow
The Chiefs have got the first setback in their quest for the 3-peat. Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown was out for the last 1 month. Struggling with his shoulder injury, he was given the news by Rick Burkholder, Vice President of Sports Medicine, and performance for the Chiefs. A surgery! The receiver will undergo surgery on September 16, 2024.
Brown isn’t happy about the way things are going forward. Showing his disappointment on Instagram, the WR wrote, “Disappointed, frustrated, and Sad was the first wave of emotions once I realized I would need surgery but that only lasted a day or so because of my Faith in God.”

Burkholder broke the news to Chiefdom via a tweet on September 13. He mentioned in his tweet that the receiver didn’t feel any pain. However, when the medical team saw the MRI scans, they noticed a bone shift. Not wanting to risk the long-term prospect of Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, the Chiefs decided to go ahead with a surgery.
The update has come a little too late. Everyone was waiting for him to return soon. For the last 4-6 weeks, Brown was telling fans that his pain was subsiding. However, the receiver is now trusting god with everything that may happen in the future. There is no other option. The next step is putting the WR on the injured reserve list. The coach has done that as well.
Andy Reid fears Marquise Brown is out for months
The receiver signed a one-year contract with the Chiefs in 2024. But going by the updates, he may have limited playing time this year. While Mahomes and other teammates want the WR to return to the fold, the surgery will extend his comeback time by a good number of weeks. Rashee Rice propped up his teammate by posting an IG Story, “We gotchu twin.” HC Andy Reid has a different timeline for his return.
Reid said that the team has a lot of injured players about whom they do not have any expected timelines. Brown is one of them. Claiming that they need time to find the exact time, the coach said, “There are not a lot of these injuries that we have information on. We have to ride it out and see where we’re at. It’s not going to be weeks, it’s going to be more like months.”
The Chiefdom is also disappointed. Every player matters for their huge mission. A 3-peat! It’s never been done. The only hope is Marquise Brown’s timely comeback.
