SKY-REESE ANGEL

The talk of Friday’s 100-81 Indiana Fever win over the Chicago Sky will be Caitlin Clark’s performance, and rightfully so.  But another storyline that could easily get lost in the shuffle is Angel Reese’s record-breaking performance.  The 22-year-old forward recorded her 23rd double-double of the season, breaking two of Tina Charles’ records: most double-doubles in a rookie season and most rebounds in a rookie season, both of which have stood for 14 seasons.

Many took notice of Reese’s accomplishment, but perhaps none more prominent than that of Chicago native and Sky minority owner Dwyane Wade.  “History in the making,” Wade said in a quote tweet of Bleacher Report’s post acknowledging Reese’s milestone.

Reese finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and a block. She’s recorded a double-double in 74.2% of the Sky’s games this season.  Chicago dropped to 11-20 and sit just a half-game ahead of the Atlanta Dream for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.  Wade took some heat for acknowledging Reese’s accomplishment but not giving Clark a tip of the cap for her career night (she recorded the WNBA’s first game with at least 30 points and 12 assists.
