Eagles QB Jalen Hurts breaks silence on relationship with head coach Nick Sirianni
In football measurements, at least, it has been a while since Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has talked about his relationship with head coach Nick Sirianni.
The need to talk about it stems naturally from last year’s historic collapse that left Sirianni on the hot seat, making it an obvious topic. That later got a boost when a report attributed some of the collapse to the relationship and differing personalities between quarterback and head coach.
Wednesday, though, Hurts says the work in progress is going well. “I think we’re in a great place, Hurts said, according to Zach Berman of PHLY. “Any time you have any frustration, any time you have any adversity that you have to overcome, it’s supposed to test you. It’s a matter of being on the same page. If we’re on the same page, maybe we would have accomplished the things we would have. And we didn’t. It’s a learning experience. It’s a simple as if, if I made it happen, I can make it happen.”
Sirianni is back with new coordinators on both sides of the football and Hurts’ initial comments here paint everything as proceeding nicely. One probably doesn’t have to dig too deep to find similar quotes from last summer, though, before the 10-1 start and stunning loss in six of seven to finish the year, including a postseason defeat. On-field results as early as the opener, then, will say more than Hurts can in front of a microphone.
