The Chicago Sky are set to host the Washington Mystics on Wednesday night at Wintrust Arena. The Sky have lost four of five since the break and dropped the last two games by a combined four points.  However, the Sky’s Tuesday practice was called off due to multiple players feeling sick, per Annie Costabile of The Chicago Sun-Times.  “Sky practice was abruptly canceled on Tuesday morning due to multiple players feeling sick, according to the team,” Costabile wrote on X. “They are scheduled to play the Mystics tomorrow at 7PM.”

As it turns out, Sky General Manager Jeff Pagliocca said they are testing for COVID-19.  “We’re testing for COVID-19 and speaking with our doctors to hear what they would suggest progression-wise,” Pagliocca said.

As such, fans were rightfully worried about Angel Reese and the Sky.  “Prayers up to the players! Speedy recovery,” one fan wrote. Another said, “So what does this mean if they test positive, wouldn’t everyone have to quarantine???”  Some fans also mentioned the frustration due to the Olympic protocols.  “Everyone should’ve got tested after Paris like this is insane, bad protocols all around,” one fan wrote.

Others were initially concerned that it was Angel Reese or one of the starters.  “Huh. The sick Chicago Sky players are getting testing for … you guessed it … the ‘rona. Hope that’s not it and they get better. There’s no way to “make up a game” in the #WNBA,” another fan wrote.  “Catching a break is not in chicago sky vocabulary. Seriously though i hope everyone is ok and can get back healthy that’s the most important thing,” said another.  “Better be them bench players,” another fan wrote. Another said, “This include Cheney or angel?”

Another fan wrote, “We going to get cooked if it’s any of the starters…….”  “As long as it’s not Angel, Chennedy & Kamilla we should be good,” another fan wrote on X.  The Sky are in the midst of playing four games in seven days. On Friday, they host the Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark in a highly-anticipated matchup before finishing the homestand and then traveling to Minnesota.

The official injury report as of Tuesday afternoon was released with Elizabeth Williams out with a knee injury and Chennedy Carter out due to health and safety protocols.  That report sparked a whole other wave of reactions from Sky fans. While Reese and others have not tested positive, Chennedy Carter is out due to health and safety protocols.

Costabile reports that several Sky players were wearing masks at the Sachs Recreation Center following the advice of the medical staff.  The Sky last played against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday in Chicago. It will be worth keeping an eye on the Sky over the next couple of days amid the latest developments.
