Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons took down the Philadelphia Eagles in a primetime Monday Night Football matchup, beating the home team at Lincoln Financial Field with a 22-21 final score.

The Eagles had a three-point lead and the ball deep in Falcons territory with less than two minutes remaining in the game. But after a dropped screen pass from Saquon Barkley on 3rd-and-3, head coach Nick Sirianni elected to kick a field goal. This decision gave the Eagles a six-point lead and handed the ball back over to Kirk Cousins and the Falcons offense for one final drive.

Cousins quickly moved the ball down the field, connecting with wide receiver Darnell Mooney on two big-time chunk plays. The drive concluded with a go-ahead touchdown pass to Drake London in the corner of the endzone.  The Eagles still had some time left on the clock to get into field goal range, but Jalen Hurts threw a game-sealing interception to end the contest.

Cousins finished the game with 241 yards and two touchdowns on 20-29 passing. The veteran quarterback looked much better than he did in Week 1’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where many questioned his health coming off last year’s Achilles injury.  Cousins was asked about his performance after the game.  “I didn’t feel like I was sharp enough today, accurate enough. I gotta be better,” Cousins said. “But that last drive hopefully can give us a boost going into next week. We can build on that… There’s still so much to be better with.”

Cousins and the Falcons will face off against Patrick Mahomes in the Chiefs in a Week 3 matchup on Sunday night.
