Lying about Jalen Hurts has price: watch trouble at ESPN over comment about Eagles QB

HURTSSSSS

TV journalists usually play a controversial role with their audience in order to earn a place and get noticed by the platforms. In this case, it was Chris Canty, an ESPN analyst, who came under fire for trying to look good with an opinion that had nothing to do with what he said earlier.

Chris, an ESPN Radio host and former NFL player, got in big trouble when he talked about Jalen Hurts.  Canty commented that the Eagles quarterback could put him on a list of the top 10 QBs in history, but unfortunately for him, his colleagues gave him a quick reminder.

Change of mind or feeling pressured?

On ESPN Radio,Chris Canty, along with Michelle Smallmon and Evan Cohen, gave us a great moment that went viral on social media about this debate and Canty’s opinion when he said that Jalen Hurts was in his top 10 quarterbacks in history.  “I had Jalen Hurts as a top ten QB coming into the season,” Canty said.

“You also had him outside the top 10 at one point,” associate producer Pat Costello chimed in from the booth.

“No, I had him as a top-10 QB coming into the season, I’m sitting here looking at my notes,” Canty said.  “There are clips online from First Take and this show where you say, ‘I don’t have Jalen Hurts in the top 10,'” Costello replied with class.

And Pat is right, the old clips began to resurface on X, where they made Canty look bad for not telling the truth.  If you thought that was it and that Chris Canty was going to say, ‘Sorry, I was wrong,’ it wasn’t like that, he came out to defend himself.

Chris does not accept the mistake

Canty had to resort to showing this screenshot of a notepad from his cell phone to silence the criticism a bit, but it had the opposite effect. The NFL community reminded him that he had put Hurts on a list of overrated players just before the season.

Things didn’t go well for Chris Canty, and now he’ll have to be more careful with his opinions, as will his fellow TV journalists, who could have a very similar outcome to these cases.
