NFL fans spot ‘unfortunate’ TNF promo video led by Patrick Mahomes – moments after season-ending injury for Chiefs QB
A Thursday Night Football on Prime promotion video for their Christmas Day game only rubbed salt in the wounds of Kansas City Chiefs fans.
The Chiefs will face the Denver Broncos to wrap up the Christmas Day slate of NFL action in a game that now means very little. In an unfortunate series of events, Prime’s promotion video featured Patrick Mahomes at the center of it.
This advertisement was run just moments after Mahomes’ season-ending ACL tear against the Los Angeles Chargers. The promotion video narration stated, “Christmas night on Prime has a massive AFC West showdown.
“Bo Nix and the Broncos meet Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs under the holiday lights at Arrowhead.”

Nix will instead meet backup quarterback Gardner Minshew at Arrowhead Stadium. The reaction to the blip from Amazon has been quite something. One fan said on X, “Can they flex the Christmas night game? lol.”
Another added, “Well, xmas is for NBA anyways.” LeBron James made that very clear last year. One more positive fan said, “Who’s not down for a little Minshew magic on Christmas?”
Disastrously for both Netflix and Amazon Prime, two of the three Christmas Day games have zero playoff implications. The Broncos are already in and the Chiefs are out, with Denver’s main inspiration to win now being the AFC no.1 seed.
And for Netflix’s opener, neither the Dallas Cowboys or the Washington Commanders will make the playoffs this season. Mathematically the Cowboys have a less than one percent chance of reaching the postseason.
Even the second game on Netflix doesn’t have an incredible excitement about it. Te Detroit Lions could be eliminated with a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. That is quite a tall order however, with the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears needing to tie in Week 16 for that to happen.
