NFL wag reveals she is having serious problems with her pregnancy: I was bleeding all over the place

Olivia Culpo, the 32-year-old model and former Miss Universe, has shared the challenges she faced during the early months of her pregnancy. In an emotional video recorded in December 2024-when she was just nine weeks along-Culpo revealed that she had experienced a series of severe health complications, including pneumonia and a subchorionic hematoma, that left her on extended bed rest.
As she prepares to welcome her first child with her husband, NFL star Christian McCaffrey, she is using her platform to shed light on the realities of difficult pregnancies and offer support to other women facing similar experiences.
A rough start to pregnancy
Culpo’s journey through her first trimester was far from smooth. She first battled a severe case of pneumonia, which confined her to bed for two weeks.

Just as she was beginning to recover, she was met with an even more terrifying setback-experiencing heavy bleeding due to a subchorionic hematoma, a condition where blood collects between the uterine wall and the chorionic membrane during pregnancy. “I have been on bed rest since week two, and before that, I also had pneumonia,” she shared in her video. “All in all, I’ve truly been on bed rest for like four weeks. “Towards the end of the two weeks of being really sick, I got a subchorionic hematoma, which is basically a blood clot in my uterus. And I was bleeding everywhere.”
The sudden and severe bleeding was an alarming experience, but a trip to the doctor revealed that her baby’s heartbeat was still strong. Although relieved, she was instructed to remain on strict bed rest to ensure a safe and healthy pregnancy. The ordeal took a toll not only on Culpo’s physical health but also on her emotional well-being. The uncertainty and fear that came with her condition left her feeling “so exhausted,” as she described.
To support her pregnancy, she was prescribed progesterone suppositories, a treatment that helps maintain the uterine lining and prevent further complications. While her condition has since improved, the experience served as a stark reminder of how unpredictable pregnancy can be. Despite the struggles, Culpo remains grateful that everything is progressing positively.
