The Kansas City Chiefs continued to the dominance in the postseason, taking down the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 26.  Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 18-of-26 passes for 245 yards and one touchdown, along with 11 carries for 43 yards and two scores. Mahomes clinched his 17th career postseason win, surpassing Joe Montana for the second-most in NFL history.

The 29-year-old holds a 4-0 record against Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Co. in the playoffs After the game, Mahomes celebrated hoisting the Lamar Hunt Trophy at Arrowhead Stadium alongside his entire family.  Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, posed with the quarterback’s brother, Jackson Mahomes, half-sister, Mia Randall, and his parents, Randi Mahomes and Pat. While the Bills and Chiefs have built a strong rivalry over the years, Mahomes only had positive things to say about Allen after the game.  “I always feel for him. He’s a great player, an amazing competitor and an awesome dude who I respect so much,” Mahomes said. “I’m sorry it had to be us. But, you know, we compete, and someone has to win.”

The three-time Super Bowl MVP’s father, however, took a direct shot at the Bills on X. He posted on Jan. 27, “Today is a great day to not be from Buffalo…”  While his post racked up over 6,800 likes, Buffalo fans were quick to clap back. One Bills fan account replied, “Stay classy.” Another person wrote, “As long as I’m as far away as possible from driving near you on the roads I feel great.” One woman added, “Today is a great day to not have any DWIs.”

Mahomes Sr. agreed to serve 10 days in Smith County Jail along with five years probation and a year of “intense supervision” following his third DWI arrest in Tyler, Texas just before the Super Bowl last year. Mahomes Sr.’s attorney, Joseph D. Murphy said in a statement that the former MLB pitcher “is now living a sober life.”

Much like his daughter-in-law, Mahomes Sr. is clearly not a fan of Bills Mafia. However, he remains his son’s biggest cheerleader as the Chiefs look to make NFL history at the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles on Feb . 9
