Patrick Mahomes dragged into ANOTHER altercation with same Chiefs teammate forcing Andy Reid to step in
Andy Reid felt the need to step in when a nasty fight broke out at Kansas City Chiefs training camp. For the second time in as many weeks, the same infamous defensive player was involved in putting the golden No. 15 jersey of franchise quarterback Patrick Mahomes in jeopardy.

To nobody’s surprise, Kansas City’s preseason has naturally revolved around the QB. Whether it’s the turnover in his receiving corps, his entertaining family, or his strange taco recipes, Mahomes is always the story. Alarm bells rang when the story surrounding Mahomes last week came in the form of a video of a serious physical bust up with hulking linebacker Drue Tranquill. The latest evidence suggests he did not get the message.
Andy Reid stops Chiefs practice for fight
During the long drive drill, an Andy Reid preseason tradition that Jason and Travis Kelce share nightmares about, linebacker Jack Cochrane started a shoving match at the end of a play involving Chiefs fan-favorite running back Isiah Pacheco.
Mahomes came storming in, laying hands on his hot-headed teammate in hopes that his presence would deescalate the situation. The $500 million man took a risk by getting involved, but as fans noted last time, he understands it is often the quickest way to get a teammate to calm down. If they continue to fight with Mahomes, the Chiefs’ season could end before it begins.
“My favorite thing is when Chiefs players process that it’s Mahomes holding them back and have to dial back their struggling by a factor of 100 because their career is on the line,” remarked a member of Chiefs Kingdom on X, formerly Twitter.
Tranquill learned his lesson last time and stayed out of Mahomes way, but still managed to instigate the massive conflict. He is seen at the end of the video taunting the offensive players, with one hand over his crotch. That was the final straw for Big Red, who slowly made his way over to the scene, even though it interrupted his favorite drill. The last thing he wanted to see was Mahomes in danger, but Tranquill’s antics could not have been far behind.

After nearly a month of grueling training camp, its clear that Reid, Mahomes, Kelce & Co. are more than ready to begin the NFL season and sic the Chiefs’ unhinged defensive players across the line of scrimmage against a different set of opponents.
