Patrick Mahomes’ father has good news for his son… As long as he meets the conditions

Patrick Mahomes Sr. has received court approval to travel out of Texas next month to support his son during the Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals on August 9.
The match will take place at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale and will see the Chiefs look to hit the ground running as they set about pursuing a return to their previously-enjoyed status as NFL champions.
Mahomes Sr. had to seek permission due to his guilty plea in a felony DWI case. As a condition of his probation, the former Major League Baseball pitcher must obtain approval to leave the state of Texas.
Court records show that he submitted the travel request on July 17, and five days later, a Smith County judge authorized the trip, allowing him to be away from August 8 through August 10.
The charge, DWI third or more, stemmed from a February arrest in which police alleged he was visibly intoxicated and found with an open can of Coors in his vehicle days before his son beat the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl LVIII.
“Today [August 27, 2024], Mr. Mahomes entered a guilty plea in his case pursuant to a written plea agreement,” his attorney, Joseph D. Murphy, said. “Our client is now living a sober life.
“And we believe that the steps he has taken to better his life have helped us negotiate a plea recommendation for probation.”
Could Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs be poised for Tyreek Hill reunion?
As Mahomes Sr. prepares to watch his son on the field once again, the Chiefs are setting their sights on another Super Bowl run following that embarrassing defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9.
With the return of key players like Travis Kelce, Nick Bolton, and Trey Smith, Kansas City remains one of the NFL’s strongest teams despite falling short in last season’s championship in New Orleans.
A notable storyline gaining attention involves speculation around a possible reunion between Mahomes and his former Chiefs wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, who is currently with the Miami Dolphins.
He has posted elite numbers during his tenure in Florida, but the analyst Nick Wright believes a Kansas City return is in the cards after he became disgruntled at the end of the 2024/25 NFL season.
“I’m very excited for Hill wearing a Chiefs uniform in 2026,” Wright predicted to Fox Sports. “[Hill] and [Travis] Kelce ride off into the sunset together, because that’s, I think, going to happen.”
While the speculation remains unconfirmed, the idea of reuniting Mahomes with his top target from Kansas City’s early Super Bowl runs adds intrigue to the future of the franchise.
The Chiefs will open their season against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 5 as part of the NFL’s expansion plans, with the game taking place in Sao Paulo in the South American nation of Brazil.
