Ryan Clark Showers Praise On Fathers Of Jalen Hurts & Patrick Mahomes For Changing Narrative Of “Absent Black Fathers” (VIDEO)

ESPN’s Ryan Clark has paid tribute to the fathers of Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes following their sons’ respective wins on Sunday.  The Super Bowl is now set, with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs gearing up to go head-to-head in Arizona on February 12. The big game is an extra special one as it will be the first to feature two black starting quarterbacks.

Only three black QBs can boast winning the Lombardi Trophy and Mahomes is already one of them, having won in 2020. The other two are Doug Williams and Russell Wilson, who won 26 years apart.  Should Mahomes and the Chiefs win Super Bowl 57, he will become the first black QB to win multiple titles. But Hurts is looking to stamp his own claim and win his first in his third season in the league.

While the above has dominated the news since Sunday night, Clark opted to go a different route on Monday, heaping praise on Averion Hurts and Patrick Mahomes Sr. for the way they raised their sons and helped changed the narrative as it pertains to black families.

Hurts and Mahomes are also vying for the MVP award this season. As is the case with titles, Mahomes has already won the accolade, while Hurts is keen on claiming his first.
