Saquon Barkley’s Heartbreaking Six-Word Admission on Late Drop in Eagles-Falcons
The Philadelphia Eagles have fallen to 1-1 on the season after a wild finish to the 22-21 loss against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football. With under two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Eagles had a perfect opportunity to seal the game with a first down. On 3rd-and-3 with 1:46 left and Philadelphia up by three, quarterback Jalen Hurts attempted to hit a wide-open Saquon Barkley for a first down, but Barkley dropped it.
The Eagles settled for a field goal, giving the Falcons one last chance on offense. Led by Kirk Cousins, they went 70 yards down the field with ease and scored the game-winning touchdown. After the game, Barkley spoke to the media about his costly mistake and only needed six words to describe how he felt: “I let my team down today.” “I dropped the ball,” Barkley said.”I let my team down today. Shouldn’t have put the defense in that position. Make that catch; game’s over.”

Overall, Barkley’s blunder will be what fans will remember, but outside of that, he had a solid performance. The former Penn State star tallied 22 carries for 96 yards and four catches for 21 yards. Barkley signed a three-year, $37.75M contract with Philadelphia over the offseason. In his Eagles debut against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1, he recorded 109 yards on the ground and three total touchdowns. The Eagles will look to get back on track in Week 3 as they head to New Orleans to take on the Saints, who are coming off a 44-19 domination of the Dallas Cowboys.
