Sterling Skye Mahomes steals the limelight in Chiefs vs Lions
Sterling Skye Mahomes, daughter of Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, stole the spotlight during the Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason game against the Detroit Lions on Saturday. While her father was busy on the field, leading the Chiefs in a closely contested match, Sterling was equally busy playing the role of big sister-in-training, accompanied by her favorite baby doll. Brittany Mahomes, who is expecting her third child, shared some adorable moments from the day on Instagram Stories. In one photo, Sterling is seen clutching her baby doll while holding onto her mom’s leg.
“The baby was not left behind today,” the picture was captioned.
Expecting another daughter
This practice session for her big-sister duties comes on the heels of the Mahomes family’s announcement that they’re expecting another daughter. In a fun gender reveal earlier this month, Sterling helped share the news by playing a game of Tic Tac Toe, where three pink Xs lined up to reveal she’ll soon have a little sister. The moment was a family celebration, with Patrick holding their son, Bronze, and Brittany lifting Sterling, who proudly held a flag that read “big sister.”
Sterling’s enthusiasm for her new role isn’t just evident on game days. Last month, Brittany posted a video of Sterling and her younger brother, Bronze, now 19 months old, laughing and playing together in a small tent. “Who knew a little tent would be so entertaining,” Brittany captioned the video.
Mahomes’ moment of magic
Meanwhile, Mahomes shined on the pitch. The star quarterbacl made an eye-catching play when he noticed Travis Kelce had run the wrong route. Instead of avoiding the mistake, Mahomes playfully threw a behind-the-back pass to Kelce. This flashy moment was the highlight of an otherwise routine game for Mahomes, who threw for 93 yards in two series.
“I always told you it had to happen naturally,” said Mahomes. “I knew it was on target. It was just low. But like I said, it wasn’t like – I didn’t do it to look cool. I did it because I was like, pissed off (at Kelce), like why did you run that route like that? And it just worked out.”
