Travis Hunter’s wife responds to Angel Reese after WNBA star shares five-word message amid emotional viral video

Angel Reese has shared some words of comfort to Leanna Lenee.  It comes after a video Travis Hunter’s wife shared a video of herself crying and in distress that went viral on social media.

The video posted by Lenee on TikTok is an old clip from December as she looked to convey how much she has grown in the last few months.  “The amount you can grow and develop in just 6 months of devoting your life to Jesus and getting away from the shackles of the world and social media is truly astounding,” Lenee wrote beneath the video.  “I wish the peace I found within Jesus on everyone who reads this. Your identity in him matters, not how people choose to perceive you.”

While Lenee was trolled by some for sharing the video, Reese, a WNBA star with a growing social media presence, was found in the comments of the video offering some heartfelt advice.  “So proud of you bby!” Reese wrote, before offering five words of advice.  “The storm doesn’t last forever,” she added.  To which Lenee replied: “Love u & thankful for your encouragement through it all xoxo.”

This is not the first time that Reese has publicly supported Lenee.  The NFL’s rookie’s wife was embroiled in controversy last December when Hunter won the Heisman Trophy as a member of the Colorado Buffaloes.  When Hunter’s name was called, everyone applauded.  However, Lenee had to be encouraged by Buffs head coach Deion Sanders to stand up and celebrate her now husband’s win.

It led to days of intense criticism of Lenee online, but Reese used her X platform to defend the 23-year-old.  “Leave that girl alone & let them be happy damn,” she wrote on X.  One fan replied to Reese, saying: “You know she’s wrong for not standing up, but that’s your boy I understand.”  It was a comment that Reese quickly shut down.

“I don’t know that boy at all. I’m just supporting another athlete — but why do you lot care so much?” the WNBA star replied.  “AGAIN, they’re happy. You lot want to be internet relationship experts so badly. This is why we want to keep things private because you’re always going to try to find SOMETHING.”

Despite what those online have commented about Lenee and Hunter’s relationship, the pair look happy together.  After becoming a couple in 2022, they got married in May of this year.  Hunter and Lenee’s tying of the knot came just a month after the former college star was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No.2 pick  Hunter is a two-way star, having played both wide receiver and cornerback in college.

He hopes to continue that in the pros, something Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce doubted he could do.  “Both sides? That’s the thing, I don’t know how they’re going to divvy it out,” Kelce said on an appearance on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast.  However, Hunter’s Jags teammate, QB Trevor Lawrence, has so far been impressed by what he’s seen from the rookie.  “I said that,” Lawrence said, laughing. “His first day over at DB, I was like, ‘We’re throwing every ball at you.’ He’s pretty freakin’ good at corner too though.
