Travis Kelce gives major clue about his and Andy Reid’s future in emotional message

Travis Kelce has given Kansas City Chiefs fans a huge clue about his future-and possibly that of head coach Andy Reid. After weeks of speculation about whether the 35-year-old tight end would retire following a disappointing Super Bowl performance, Kelce has now hinted at staying in Kansas City for several more seasons.
Kelce’s future has been a hot topic ever since the Chiefs fell to the Philadelphia Eagles 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX. The devastating loss raised questions about whether the 12-year veteran had played his final game. After taking time to reflect, Kelce has confirmed he will return for at least one more season-and possibly longer if Reid remains with the team.
Kelce Hints at a Longer Stay in Kansas City
Kelce currently has one year left on his contract, which is set to pay him $19.8 million for the 2025 season. While that deal would take him into his 36th year, the Chiefs could offer him an extension-especially given Kelce’s latest comments about his love for the team and Reid.
“I love going into the building with the guys that are there,” Kelce said in an emotional statement. “Coach Reid is one of the biggest influences on my life, not just in the game of football. I don’t want to stop going to work with him.”
His words suggest that his future could be tied to Reid’s tenure in Kansas City, which is currently set to run through the 2029 season. If Kelce wants to continue playing under Reid, that could mean signing a new multi-year extension-something that would delight Chiefs fans.
A Commitment to the Chiefs and a Hall of Fame Legacy
Beyond his admiration for Reid, Kelce made it clear that he feels a sense of responsibility to Kansas City and intends to finish what he started. “I feel like there’s a responsibility in me to play out the contract that I initially signed,” Kelce stated. “To give Kansas City and the Chiefs organization everything that I got. That’s what I’m going to do.”
Despite his rocky 2024-25 season, Kelce remains determined to return to his Hall of Fame form. On the New Heights podcast, he admitted: “I still feel like I can play at a high level, and possibly at a higher level than I did last year.” Kansas City has become home for Kelce, and while retirement loomed large just weeks ago, it now seems that he has no plans to leave the Chiefs anytime soon. Whether or not he matches Reid’s contract length, one thing is clear: Travis Kelce isn’t done just yet.
