Travis Kelce’s Mom Issues Stern Reminder to Chiefs Star in Front of Taylor Swift – Watch video
As the confetti fell over Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday night, the attention of the Kansas City Chiefs shifted to New Orleans, where they will take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9. Before Kansas City’s star tight end Travis Kelce could begin to think about the trip to the Big Easy, his mother made sure his priorities were straight. She was not afraid to call him out in front of his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
Swift and “Mama Kelce” had watched the AFC Championship Game together from the VIP suite alongside Swift’s mother, Andrea, and father, Scott. As Swift planned, they made their way down to the field to celebrate after the Chiefs took down Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, 32-29.
After Kelce had charmed Chiefs Kingdom with a song and laid a kiss on his celebrity girlfriend, a moment of calm with Swift and his mom turned into a lecture about Bourbon Street. The interaction was revealed in a clear video from the field posted by the Kansas City Star on TikTok. Donna Kelce raised her eyes as Travis crooned, “New Orleans, Louisiana. Takes me back. I owe New Orleans a little something.” “We know where you’re gonna be,” said Kelce’s mom within earshot of Swift. “We know your history.”
Kelce has played only one game in New Orleans in his NFL career, a 32-29 Chiefs win over the Saints during the 2020 season. However, his mother was referring to the 2010 Sugar Bowl. The tight end played for the University of Cincinnati in the 2009 season and failed a marijuana test ahead of the game, ostensibly after partying too hard in the days leading up to the contest in New Orleans. He missed the bowl game, was suspended for the entire 2010 season by the NCAA and lost his scholarship.

“I won’t be having as much fun as I did before,” Travis said, before his mother warned, “No, you won’t!”
“No grenades,” the tight end conceded.
It was unclear whether he was referencing doing something stupid that exploded in his face, potentially destroying his career and his team’s chances in a big game, or reflecting on a memory of New Orleans’ famous downtown strip, Bourbon Street.

The hand grenade is the signature cocktail of the Tropical Isle chain, which has had multiple locations on Bourbon Street and across New Orleans for years. Tropical Isle created “New Orleans’ Most Powerful Drink” for the world’s fair in New Orleans in 1984. Kelce would be wise to honor his mother’s warning before the game, but if the Chiefs defeat the Eagles and become the first team in history to win three straight Super Bowls, who knows where the party will end up.
