UNDERWHELMED: Carrie Underwood ‘furious’ over inauguration and ‘not getting same respect as Beyonce or Lady Gaga’ after tech blunder

CARRIE Underwood has allegedly been left ‘furious’ over her inauguration performance as she felt she ‘didn’t get the same respect’ as past performers Beyonce or Lady Gaga.

The country singer endured a massive technical error that led to several moments of awkward silence on live TV in the middle of Donald Trump being inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States.

After Carrie, 41, was quickly walked onto the stage area, music from America The Beautiful was supposed to begin playing.  However, nothing came from the speakers – leading to awkward moments of silence and confusion as the whole room, Carrie included, looked around – seemingly not knowing what to do.  The American Idol winner ended up pushing through as she belted out the tune acapella and was praised by viewers for her professional “boss move.”  Despite the positive reaction from fans, Carrie was reportedly left “furious” by the lack of consideration, as well as for the technical mishap that occurred on the world’s biggest stage.

According to the DailyMail, Carrie was upset that she was not granted a proper “stage or platform even like previous performers,” presumably due to the event being held indoors.  “Carrie was dissatisfied with her performance at the event, primarily due to the limited space she was given, which left her feeling cramped and uncomfortable.  “Her anxiety was high throughout the performance, and she felt that she was not afforded the same level of respect or admiration that previous performers, such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, had received.  “She felt as if she was ushered in and out and had a mini hissy fit afterward,” a source claimed to the outlet.

The insider added that Carrie “is used to playing at massive venues with a stage to herself. She was not given a stage or a platform even.  “She felt like she was literally just in a room with people all around her and a microphone. This threw off the acoustics.”  Beyonce, 43, famously sang the Etta James classic At Last to end President Barack Obama’s second-term inauguration in 2013.  In 2021, Lady Gaga, 38, was tapped to sing the National Anthem for President Joe Biden’s inauguration.

A separate source told the publication: “Though [Carrie’s] performance wasn’t ideal, nor was it what she wanted it to be as she wanted it to go down without a hitch, the fact that there was some awkwardness getting things going just added to the unique nature of it all.  “She will eventually laugh about it and take it for what it was, but she is disappointed that it wasn’t more of a moment as the moment she was searching for got altered with the technical difficulties.

“Though it isn’t her day, and she just wanted to add to the day and not upstage anything, she was annoyed of how it turned out.”  They added that despite all the hiccups, Carrie was “proud of herself” that she saved the moment from being a “total disaster.”

EDGE OF ‘DISASTER’

For the big event today, Carrie wore a sleek grey sleeveless dress and matching stilettos as she walked toward the stage to perform at the political event.  She quickly began to grimace as it was made apparent there was an issue with the music.  The Before He Cheats singer tightly gripped the microphone as she waited on the background melody to begin for an awkward several seconds.

Despite the several moments of stressful silence, Carrie continued on to sing completely acapella as her voice echoed through the room.  “You know the words, help me out here,” she asked the room inside the U.S. Capitol, before belting out the classic song.  Fans were impressed the American Idol judge was able to pull off the move so impressively.

“Carrie Underwood owned the moment after the glitch in the music for America the Beautiful by singing a cappella. It took an embarrassing moment and made it magnificent as Republicans and Democrats helped sing with her,” one person said.  “Carrie Underwood said we’ll do it LIVE and NAILED it like a DIVA! Absolutely iconic moment,” another wrote  “Heroic moment by Carrie Underwood in the face of adversity. This is America,” a third praised.

“What a trooper Carrie was. She said to heck with the music. I’m here to sing and that she did,” another clapped along.  After completing the performance, Carrie clapped, bowed and turned around to shake the hands of both President Trump and President Joe Biden.
