Watch: Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley run wild as Eagles soar to Super Bowl LIX

The Philadelphia Eagles are flying high into Super Bowl LIX. Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley combined for six touchdowns, powering the Eagles to a dominant 55-23 victory over the Washington Commanders and securing their second Super Bowl appearance in four years.

Philadelphia’s defense got off to a shaky start, allowing Washington to strike first with a 34-yard field goal by Zane Gonzalez. However, Barkley quickly turned the tide, breaking loose for a 60-yard touchdown run before adding another four-yard score later in the first quarter.  Washington showed some fight early on, as Gonzalez added another field goal and Jayden Daniels connected with Terry McLaurin on a 36-yard touchdown pass. A failed two-point conversion left the Commanders trailing 12-14.

Jalen Hurts takes over

Hurts extended the Eagles’ lead with a one-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a four-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Brown. Washington responded with another Gonzalez field goal, but by halftime, the Eagles had built a 27-15 lead and were firmly in control.

The third quarter saw a slightly slower pace, but Hurts continued to shine, adding a nine-yard rushing touchdown. Washington managed to answer with a 10-yard rushing score by Daniels, followed by a two-point conversion, keeping the Commanders within striking distance at 34-23.

The final nail in Washington’s coffin

Any hopes of a Washington comeback were crushed in the fourth quarter, as their defense completely collapsed. Philadelphia added three more touchdowns-another one-yard run by Hurts, a four-yard rushing score by Barkley, and a two-yard touchdown run by Will Shipley, sealing the 55-23 victory.

With the NFC Championship secured, the Eagles now set their sights on Super Bowl LIX at the Superdome in New Orleans on February 9. If Hurts and Barkley continue playing at this level, their next opponent-whether it be the Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills-could be in for a nightmare matchup.
